she’s not of the same evil as aunt lydia i suppose but like…at the same time she very much condones all that she does, exactly in the same way her husband does. 

they’ve done a lot to try to give her ~sympathetic moments this season but let’s not forget what she did/ what we found out about her in the first…

– didn’t let june leave her room for 13 days

– when they’re preparing for the gala, she shows no disgust or surprise when she sees that some of the handmaids have been mutilated – merely annoyance that they’re in her sight, and doesn’t let them go to the event because she knows they need to hide what it is those in power do (it’s not as if she’s…unaware) to keep them in line within this totalitarian state.

– she shows no development for the above in season 2– when she asks ofglen a direct question she is embarassed (but, likely, not shocked or horrified, as she should be, given the above we’ve already established she very much knows violence is used against handmaids by both aunts and expectant parents) to find out that she can’t speak because they’ve removed her tongue.
