I can assure you that almost no one in real life will be as rude and uncompromising about what your interests are in real life as they are on the internet. I talk to almost everyone I meet about Elizabeth at some point in the conversation and I get everything from polite indifference to genuine excitement but not once have I had someone be like “Your opinion is shit you’re a terrible human for having that opinion and here’s why.” The internet provides a handy cover of anonymity so people act like the total assholes that they would never have the balls to be in real life.
As for the visceral hatred, I can completely understand why many people wouldn’t be fond of Elizabeth (especially if they’re from a country which was affected by English colonialism) but when I usually see Elizabeth hate it has very little to do with honestly criticizing her actions and more to do with “my historical figure is better than yours!!!!!” Which is just dumb.
My advice? Do your thing, enjoy yourself, stay critical and don’t let others single-mindedness get you down!
