i don’t feel like tv shows nowadays (for the most part, anyway) start with really good hooks anymore??

like fr, as an Elder, what happened to that?? i feel like tv pilots 1994-2007 began with incredible hooks to suck the viewer in, absolutely packed with twists and content, and now they’re just like ‘we’re building…we’re building tension…introducing all the characters…and building’ and my ADD self be like damn!! build a little faster!!!!!

(since i’ve been rewatching friends lately and disagree with most DiscHorse abt it on here) chandler isn’t as bad as ross; i don’t think he’s that much better tho?

like…is impersonating someone else on the phone so that some poor, random woman thinks she’s being stood up (so you can ‘swoop in’ when she’s feeling ‘vulnerable’) and trying to sleep with her (chandler) that much worse than throwing away the message from some dude at a bar for your ex (ross)?
