fr, to paraphrase Aaron Copland in his book “What to Listen for in Music”: Bach succeeded as he did because he was composing at a time when Baroque music was about to reach its fullest development, and he took a well-known and accepted style and did it better than anyone else before him…. similarly, Miss Jepsen is doing that exact thing for pop. She’s a traditionalist composer and an icon.
