Know of any cute gift ideas for people in a long distance relationship? And do you have a favorite book?

Oh I’ve been single for years and I give bad advice so I don’t really…know…probably something that reflects an interest of theirs/their sense of humor? You can usually find cute or small things relevant to specific niche interests on like…Etsy. Like if your SO has a favorite piece of art, you can probably find a phone case cover that has it.

Favorite book among the last like…twenty I read would probably be Faithful by Alice Hoffman.

tbh I always personally took that Disturbing line “like dark hooks for the soul” to mean dark in the figurative sense, like there was something dark in her spirit that attracted people to her, which, granted, actually makes it So Much Worse because it plays into the whole ‘Anne was an evil seductress trope’ but it fit the version of Thomas Boleyn they were selling :/

I mean much was said of her eyes, so I get the quote kind of (dually alluring and dark, but yeah suggesting especial ‘darkness’ in the sense of malevolence is…yawn, esp. since Gregory’s ‘interpretation’ of Anne) but like…maybe something not appropriate for her father to be saying??

They really just made him the Worst, this + “it’s as if he was imagining her…naked” like dude!! That’s your daughter!! Stop forever!! ‘

I guess they just wanted us to hate him as much as Charles Brandon did shshshsh, to the point where we’re rooting for him/connecting with him in s2 when he confronts him in the Tower and asks him if it was ‘all worth it’.

what are your thoughts on costumes in the tudors in general? do you like that they sort of modernised the style a bit? or would you have rather they used historically accurate costumes?

I mean I would have preferred historically accurate costumes, but they were at least colorful/fashionable imo…or the women’s were, at least, for the most part.

Idk why they’re so afraid to cover women’s hair in period dramas in general, tbh?? Tudors isn’t the only one guilty of that but like…the skinny little headbands instead of French hoods…are y’all even trying?? I think the hoods of the Tudor era were beautiful; esp. with the veils, it would be nice to see more of them in general.

Would’ve also liked to see some clothes mentioned in primary sources if it was ever possible… Anne Boleyn’s nightgown, for instance, which I’ve wanted to see in an adaptation since reading about it in Ives’ bio!
