Aw nice!! It’s so evocative, I hope the rest of her album lives up to it ❤

Any hot takes on any critically acclaimed books or “classics”?
I have some takes, I don’t know how ~hot they are but:
1:
- I love Jane Eyre, and I kind of just lol when people are like ‘Mr. Rochester/the romance are problematic’, like uuuuh… of course he is, and of course it is, it’s a…gothic romance?
- And tbh (although you could link this with a lot of classics), you should really not be reading fiction looking for Relationship Goals anyway?? Or trying to model your own ideal romantic relationships off them because it’s uh…fiction.
- Like if you’re looking to do that, buy or rent a nonfiction book about relationships by an expert in psychology?? Idw to ruin your day or nothin’ but…ye. That’s my take
- Anyway; Charlotte Bronte wrote that book for Ugly Girls everywhere so I’ll always love her for it.
2:
- This is just a crack theory; but sometimes I wonder if part of the opening from Romeo and Juliet was meant to be for an opening of a play about the WOTR, and if Shakespeare just reworked it?
- Like:
-
Two households, both alike in dignity….
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. - Very York & Lancaster, right??
- I mean I guess that’s kind of a story since time immemorial so it’s probably not true but sometimes late at night I wonder if it was…
3
- I get so annoyed when people say Pride & Prejudice is overrated??
- It’s rated exactly as much as it should be.
(I’ve read it 4 times)- Hush!!
4
- I HATED having to read Animal Farm in high school, it was so. Boring.
- I get that it’s a work of important historic significance (well….for the British perspective anyway, on All That)
- But I still hated it, I think 1984 is much better.
5
- Franny & Zooey is legiterally a thousand times better than Catcher in the Rye.
- Tbh I think that should be the work Salinger is famous for, it is so tragically underrated and it’s made me cry and I think everyone should read it.
Know of any cute gift ideas for people in a long distance relationship? And do you have a favorite book?
Oh I’ve been single for years and I give bad advice so I don’t really…know…probably something that reflects an interest of theirs/their sense of humor? You can usually find cute or small things relevant to specific niche interests on like…Etsy. Like if your SO has a favorite piece of art, you can probably find a phone case cover that has it.
Favorite book among the last like…twenty I read would probably be Faithful by Alice Hoffman.
unpopular opinion: daniel was just as much at fault as charlotte for their relationship not working out and while he meant well, he put a lot on her emotionally really fast and it’s understandable she got scared off

tbh honest…..he did come on a little strong. not to say i think she was totally closed/unresponsive to it/him, but there’s some middle ground between that and being totally open and he either ………. hm……. didn’t read that well or did and kind of ignored it because he was hopeful.
the ‘let’s run away together’ vibe is romantic on the surface but can def be overwhelming, esp. for someone with trust issues and esp. considering they had like…kind of just met (i think? the timeline of this show is like a zipline tbh sksksksks)

unpopular opinion: tumblr callouts are almost always a bad idea, and it’s not uncommon for the things in them to be untrue and/or the people in the callout to not deserve a callout

i honestly haven’t seen enough to be able to judge……i’ve seen some that are valid and some that are stupid, lol. in general people could probably do with just blocking and carrying on more often; but i get how it’s frustrating to have someone block you and then continue to reblog your content lmao (that’s happened to me and it’s like …….. wyd……also you literally can’t message them to be like ‘stop reblogging my stuff pls’ as you’re blocked so in that scenario it’s the only way to plausibly get them to stop)

tbh I always personally took that Disturbing line “like dark hooks for the soul” to mean dark in the figurative sense, like there was something dark in her spirit that attracted people to her, which, granted, actually makes it So Much Worse because it plays into the whole ‘Anne was an evil seductress trope’ but it fit the version of Thomas Boleyn they were selling :/
I mean much was said of her eyes, so I get the quote kind of (dually alluring and dark, but yeah suggesting especial ‘darkness’ in the sense of malevolence is…yawn, esp. since Gregory’s ‘interpretation’ of Anne) but like…maybe something not appropriate for her father to be saying??
They really just made him the Worst, this + “it’s as if he was imagining her…naked” like dude!! That’s your daughter!! Stop forever!! ‘
I guess they just wanted us to hate him as much as Charles Brandon did shshshsh, to the point where we’re rooting for him/connecting with him in s2 when he confronts him in the Tower and asks him if it was ‘all worth it’.
Have you seen Versailles? If so, what do you think of the costumes (I love them and they’re the #1 reason for me watching it)
Oh, I love them too! Ngl it’s probably mainly why I bothered watching, I’m not a big fan of the writing/plot…also all the gratuitous violence (esp. towards women):

I don’t know if your have done that already but favorite and least favorite costume in TWP? (if you don’t mind)
I actually liked many of TWP? Not from a historically accurate standpoint but from a me going “is it not enough to see a pretty costume, shiny” standpoint:

This one, tho…idk what they were going for…a gown as armor? Gown made out of shellac? It was Bad:
