i really don’t get the admiration~…like is it really just because the actress the portrays serena on tht is attractive because i feel it is??

she’s not of the same evil as aunt lydia i suppose but like…at the same time she very much condones all that she does, exactly in the same way her husband does.

they’ve done a lot to try to give her ~sympathetic moments this season but let’s not forget what she did/ what we found out about her in the first…

– didn’t let june leave her room for 13 days

i think we gravitate towards the Icy Blonde Trope (smth about…hidden depths, maybe) but like?? it’s a really troubling pattern when creators try to make legitimately evil women ~sympathetic~ to viewers.

another example besides tht is like…the way in which the movie adaptation of gone girl left so much out of the book, things that are pretty important to amy’s character.

like in the movie it’s only a man (or men?) that reach out to her husband to say she’s a pathological liar. in the book, she bullied and gaslighted a girl she thought was stealing her thunder in high school (pretending that she pushed amy down the stairs after throwing herself down them, which the girl is punished for, pretending she’s stalked her), and we hear from her too.
