Not a fan of this AU because not a fan of him, honestly but like…idk?
He never had children with his IRL wife and I think everyone’s been like “oh well because he hated her” but I find it a little strange… because if they never consummated that marriage or only did once or w/e, that would mean he didn’t care about passing his title down to his own issue and that’s a bit strange for a 16th century English nobleman, tbh,
That or he had fertility issues, or Talbot did, or both…if the former, sad for Anne because I think she really wanted to be a mother.
As for Henry 8…mmm… maybe? He didn’t have a habit of taking married mistresses, at all (unless that affair with Mary Boleyn was after her marriage, it might have just been before tho)…he entertained marrying Christina of Denmark and she was a widow, and obviously did marry Parr who was one, but other than that…
I don’t think Henry would’ve annulled his marriage on the hope a wed woman would annull her own, he probably would have anyway had he not had a male heir by 1527 but not with marrying an English noblewoman in mind.
There might have been an attraction anyway because who knows, but Anne would never commit adultery against her husband– we know she never did, so.
“Casting off all others besides you out of my thoughts and affections”, and that she evidently responded favorably to that (tentatively, in his next letter he writes he’s “please she still has some remembrance of him”) could mean she would have been his mistress were he unmarried, but I don’t think she would be if she herself was married.
