i often see people in the notes of posts asking for donations lecturing the person asking and like…don’t do that, lol.

“have you tried food stamps?” hi, a) bureaucracy is slow, b) idk if you’ve ever been on food stamps (i have) but the allotment per month is probably a lot less than you think and it’s very easy to run out before the month’s up, and incredibly hard to make it last the whole month, c) if that person doesn’t have a car, can’t afford an uber and doesn’t live near a reasonably priced grocery store, all they can buy is what they can reasonably carry on the bus (assuming, even, they live in an area with great and frequent public transit)

“go to a food bank” hi, a) again, you’re assuming this person lives close to a food bank, has adequate transportation, and that there’s even a bus that goes to the food bank nearest to them…again, if they’re taking the bus (assuming they can afford bus fare), all they can take home is what they can carry on the bus and walk home with if the bus doesn’t roll up right to their address, b) that might be less than they can usually carry if they’re weak from hunger

like not only do you lack empathy but…you’re stupid.
