I received a reccomendation for a Tudor-era novel based on the claim that the treatment of Henry was “balanced”; and read and found that he was even worse than his character in Tudors (I’m still a bit miffed about it; because I actually paid for the Kindle version based on that rec and was pretty disappointed). The only Tudor novel I’ve read where the treatment of Henry is actually balanced was Struck With the Dart of Love, and the Anne series by G. Lawrence (with a few reservations– it falls into the 1960s/70s Tudor novel trap of describing Henry as a “child being denied a sweet” about 2,891 times, when in reference to sex, which…gag, tbh).

Besides that, I’ve read a few fics on AO3 that do have a balanced treatment of him, but it’s honestly incredibly rare.
